We Will Meet Again
Incense ash
2022
Installed on the ground are my mother's footprints and my own footprints moving towards each other. The footsteps were made using incense ash collected from the Buddhist temple I grew up going to. The incense ash is a material accumulated over time with every prayer. I view it as something embedded with the unspoken hopes, dreams, and wishes of not only my mother, but the immigrant households in my neighborhood. These footsteps are fleeting and even the slightest movement can shift their form.
